How to use your Meal Planner
Adding Recipes & Ingredients
To cook more than one meal in a day, click "+ Add Another Recipe". To add an ingredient, simply start typing into the recipe card. As soon as you begin filling out the last row, a new blank row will automatically appear underneath it.
Recipe Method
You can add detailed cooking instructions to any recipe by clicking the "📝 Add/Edit Method" button. These instructions will automatically be included when you print or export your planner.
How the Shopping List Calculates & Optimises
The planner is smart enough to combine similar units so you don't end up with a messy shopping list. For example:
Mass: If you add 500g of Chicken and 1.5kg of Chicken, your shopping list will automatically combine them into 2 kg.
Volume: If you add 250ml of Milk and 1L of Milk, it will automatically total 1.25 L.
Extra Items: You can manually add household items (like bin bags or foil) to the bottom of your list using the Extra Items section. These will print perfectly beneath your groceries.
Mixing Grams and Cups
The planner does not convert between mass (like grams) and volume (like cups). This is because 1 cup of flour weighs very differently to 1 cup of water.
If you enter 500g of Flour for baking and 1 cup of Flour for a sauce, the shopping list will cleanly group them together but keep the totals accurate: "500 g + 1 cup".
Using the Shopping List
If you take your phone or tablet to the supermarket, you can tap any item on the Shopping List to instantly cross it off. If you prefer paper, printing your list will automatically generate clean tick-boxes for your pen!
Importing & Saving
Because this is a local webpage, it doesn't automatically save to the cloud. Click 💾 Save Updated Weekly Planner in the menu to download a fresh copy of your plan. You can also use 📂 Import a Saved Weekly Planner to securely load a previously saved planner straight back into this window.
Customising Exports & Printing
Use the 🛠️ Customise Print or 🛠️ Customise Export options to select exactly what information you want included. You can exclude specific days, hide recipe methods, or seamlessly append your global notes and shopping list directly to the bottom of your printouts or CSV files.
Personalisation
You can adjust the look of your planner by toggling Light Mode or changing the Accent Colour in the Navigation & Tools menu. If you ever want to revert back, just click the 🔄 Reset to Defaults button.
